The second complaint is that there are SO many disks to keep track of.A great game, and a must for anyone who considers themselves a fan of RPGs. A friend reported not being able to finish the game because of a software problem, and sometimes the game does not save properly for me. Every hamster has his day. Without a doubt, one of the best RPGs of all time. Make sure you have over 150 hours of your life to devote to it, if you plan on finishing it.The characters are memorable, the voice acting is great, and the myriad of different paths one can take is almost inconceivable, close to overwhelming.Even without having played BGI, I was able to enjoy the sequel. My only complaints are that there are a few bugs.
plus the internet community is absolutely great.I cannot recommend this game highly enough. the graphics are somewhat dated now since it is sprites rather than 3D, but the story and free form nature of the plots and subquests more than make up for it. unbelievably great game. this has to be the best RPG ever made.
too bad this classic is only fit for the bargain bin or the true geek - it can't compete with all the graphics of today's games and the variable story lines of today's games/MMORPGs are able to shame it. Unfortunately the storyline is worn away long before the gameplay.Nonetheless, this game is epic. but you just can't get a good dog down. This is an expansion to the classic. The gameplay is deep. breathtakingly deep.
For a game released in 1992, it should have been corrected AGES ago.The update part of the game no longer works either; the company no longer supports it. This causes corrupted movies, which causes the game to crash at random moments. This is a known issue, discussed on many sites on the internet. It should have been fixed YEARS ago, but they keep releasing the "bad" discs as a set; anything for a buck, I guess.I thought I had gotten actual bad disks, but I didn't; apparently ALL of them have the same problem. I had to really search to find an update patch, which did NOT fix the random crash problem.I don't recommend this game simply because of the "greed" principle; something this old should work flawlessly by now, but it doesn't; simply because they'd rather make money than support their product. It comes with an addendum to the user manual; a small typed sheets that corrects a few misprints, but doesn't even include the manual. You have to go onto fansites to even figure out how to use the game. The tutorial is okay, but it doesn't tell you what ANY of the buttons are; it assumes you read what they are in the (non-existent) manual. The game plays okay, >IF< you turn the movies off by manually inserting a line in the INI file.Otherwise; it crashes randomly. This is caused by a bad install.Disk 2 always has an error while installing, and when you install the expansion, it has an additional error. The only way to install is to pick "ignore".
Easily the best $7 I have ever spent. I bought a PS3 a year ago and found myself playing this game on my PC more than anything on the PS3. If you have any interest in this game then pay the $7 and buy it. I played it off and on for over a year and a half.
